New Classes!

Anastasia Encarnacion will be holding new aquatic fitness classes at Sonoma Splash!!! The classes are starting in March, so these classes are coming up, right away!! Both classes will be held in the 90° warm, handicap accessible, therapy pool

AquaFit
12:30PM on Tuesdays, beginning March 7th

The popular AquaFit is a small group personal training class with an emphasis on: functional movement, improvement of ADL’s (activities of daily living), postural and mobility improvement, and chronic pain reduction. This class covers all the bases: proper breath technique, strength, balance, flexibility, agility and quickness – but then adds the extras of chronic pain management techniques, and understanding how your body makes healthy movements. Each student receives individualized instruction, during class, to get the most from their workout. Wear a swimsuit and sunscreen. Bring water to drink and take breaks during class to hydrate when necessary. Please let Anastasia know about any medical issues you have, before you start class.

Ai Chi
12:30PM on Thursdays, beginning March 2nd

You can Much like Tai Chi and Qigong, Ai Chi focuses on gentle, slower, flowing movements, along with deep breathing to promote relaxation, balance, strength and flexibility. You’ll have a harmonious day after practicing your Ai Chi! To best enjoy the soothing, smooth movements of Ai Chi, one should remain warm. In cool weather, clothing for Ai Chi may include: bathing suit, water shirt, water tights, knit cap and for those needing extra warmth, a neoprene vest. In warm weather often only a bathing suit and sunscreen is necessary, though some like to add an SPF water shirt and hat to protect the skin from sun. Please apply your sunscreen at home, as it takes 20 minutes for sunscreen to become effective and not wash right off in the pool.

As an owner of a Physical Therapy practice (Caliente Springs Physical Therapy) which is part of the same complex as the Aquatic Center it has been a very advantageous relationship with Anastasia, as many
of our patients go on to work with her after they have completed their physical therapy rehabilitation.

I have the pleasure of recommending to you Anastasia Encarnacion, who is a highly regarded aquatic rehab specialist in Sonoma that I have had the pleasure of working with for the past 15 years. Anastasia demonstrates an exceptional knowledge of posture, balance, functional biomechanics, and gait, and she specializes in developing low impact aquatic exercise programs to address deficiencies in these areas. She is most adept at instructing aging and arthritic patients in movements and aquatic exercises that improve their health, quality of life and function. Many of her clients remain dedicated to her classes for years, if not the rest of their lives.
